My husband requested this dish, but I had never cooked it before. I found a recipe that sounded similar to what he described. I had heard of goulash before but just never tried it. This is a  very good dish, like a soup almost. Simple to make and the seasoning is perfect. Hubby thinks this goes good with Mexican Cornbread.

2 lbs. hamburger

2 large onions

3 cloves garlic, diced

1 bell pepper, diced

3 cups water

30 oz. tomato sauce

29 oz. diced tomatoes

3 TBS soy sauce

2 TBS Italian seasoning

3 Bay leaves

1 TBS season salt

2 cups macaroni noodles

In a large sauce pan, cook the hamburger, onion, bell pepper and garlic until done. Drain.

Return to pan and add water, tomato sauce, tomatoes, soy sauce and seasonings. Bring to a boil and let simmer 15 minutes. Add noodles and bring to a boil and then turn off. Let set for 20 minutes.

Serve with cheddar cheese sprinkled on top, if desired.
